Access to reliable information is essential for good decision making.
Helping decision makers in the West Midlands access reliable information is at the heart of our role. We work closely with organisations and individuals to identify and catalogue data and evidence related to the West Midlands, building a comprehensive, publicly-accessible online collection of West Midlands data and evidence.
The Resource Catalogue is a directory on this website signposting to reports, datasets, websites and other information resources published by a wide range of organisations.
The catalogue is searchable and you can filter search results by subject, date, type and geographical coverage.
We encourage you to submit your resources to the Catalogue. You'll need to be registered on this website (it's quick and free to register) to do so.
Explore a variety of datasets using interactive maps. The geographical display of data helps to understand how separate issues affect the West Midlands region and local areas.
We've created a resource guide to help Local Authorities prepare their Local Economic Asssessments. We've collated signposts to data sources, analysis and guidance produced by a range of organisations, as well as our own research. The resources are grouped into six areas, based on the themes set out in the LEA guidance published in March 2010. While this guidance is no longer statutory, it's still a useful framework.
The Geographical Information Group produced a set of guidelines for handling geographic data to signpost good practice and describe topics such as data collection, data storage, data distribution and metadata.
The search engine on this website signposts to content on other organisations' websites. This search service can be accessed via an API.
We encourage you to use the API in your own website or applications. Please do experiment and let us know what you think or how it could be improved.
